“How, my friends tell me content is the way to go for long term scale. Thoughts?”
"Joe, we're scaling with Meta and want to know how to make ads that get 6%+ CTRs. Can you help?"
But in regards to scale, these are the WRONG questions!
They’re all about how to get MORE traffic.
They don't understand there's something that must be done before you can even THINK of clicking "Publish" on another Meta ad.
HOWEVER - if you ask these questions when you're trying to scale, or think about growing your business with the word "MORE" in mind...don't stress because you're not alone.
I did the same thing for a very long time with my ecommerce brand.
I've operated a sleep health ecom brand for almost a decade, and in the early days I did pretty well, but when I went to scale I just cranked up my ad budgets and things fell short.
Doing more does not work - it ALWAYS plateaus.
That being said, on this page I'm going to go into full detail on the prerequisite you need to put in place BEFORE you increase traffic and how you can use it to scale your business PROFITABLY and CONSISTENTLY.
So the results you get are not only predictable, but permanent. They're results you can rely on over the long-term.
But before I go into detail on the one key piece you need when running traffic...
Let me explain the nature of the traffic beast:
Most people view traffic as Traffic = Money.
And there's SOME truth to that, but if that's ALL you know, you're going to fail when you try to scale.
No joke - all the traffic in the world can't help you grow if you can't extract MORE value from the traffic than you paid for it!
To explain this properly...
I'm going to put it into an analogy that's simple to understand:
Because this is pretty complicated stuff.
Remember those clients I told you about earlier? With the questions?
Those aren't novices.
A few of them have products and are in big box stores you definitely know by name.
So don't feel bad or like you're "wrong" if you don't have this down.
Most people miss this, and it stops them from scaling profitably. Or from scaling at all.
In fact, I believe it's the key separator between the guys who exit at eight or nine figures and the people scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to do better than breakeven on a good month.
Anyways...
Traffic is like gas in your car.
Sure, gas makes your car go, and traffic/sales is what drives business growth.
But HOW your car drives (or how far it goes) when you fill up the tank depends on a LOT of other things.
Filling up with high octane doesn’t mean your car will go fast. Heck, it doesn’t mean your car will go at all!
And if you look at traffic alone as the key to scaling your business…that’s like thinking that just by buying better gas you can transform a 1975 Pacer into a 2023 Lamborghini.
Not gonna happen!
There are other parts of your car (and business) that have to come first.
Key things you have to maintain and work to keep tuned to make sure it performs at peak levels.
Which means…
The most important part of your business is the structure & design
If you don’t have a well-built, well-tuned engine, you’re dead in the water.
Doesn’t matter what kind of gas (traffic) you put in the tank, it’s not going anywhere.
This is that prerequisite I was talking about in the beginning.
For example, your marketing message. It's like your car's drive train.
It connects the ENGINE (your sales processes/backend) you've built to the FUEL (traffic you generate) that will drive it.
That being said...
Traffic is ONLY the fuel that feeds your success.
If your car is grinding along, puffing out plumes of back smoke, it’s probably not because you put 87 octane in the tank instead of 91 octane.
It’s usually a symptom of a deeper problem. You need to tune up your engine.
Which means that if the bottom line of your business is suffering, if you can't scale, or if your business won't generate profits AT SCALE
...it's probably not the result of a lack of traffic...
It probably has something to do with the systems that make up your business.
The DESTINATION your traffic is sent to.
The product pages it sees, the messages the traffic reads, and the ideas behind the advertising you put in front of them.
If you want a business that scales profitably and gives you the time to enjoy the extra profit you're making, you have to scale it by making the destination the traffic is sent to…better.
And the best way to do this is design more complete sales processes. Sales processes that max out the effort you put into your ads and deliver the MOST profitable result with the least amount of work.
